Let me introduce you to Lola! She’s the 1958 Lone Star Meteor amongst the fleet of retro boats at Retro Boat Rentals in Austin, Texas who took my friends and I out onto Lady Bird Lake last month for a truly unique and instagrammable experience. 🤗

I actually could not control myself from waving at the kayakers, boaters and paddle boarders we passed. I was thriving off the good attention. I mean how could they not stare? She is a total showstopper!
We decided to dress for the part. I wore a thrifted yellow dress with retro red flowers, my best boating hat and of course my white western boats to commemorate the only state that could ever have such an instagrammable place to be at.

And obviously we also came prepared with snacks and drinks. We just ran into a Trader Joe’s to ensure we could also get a french baguette, because THAT was the vibe. Little did we know that Alta’s, above the boathouse, would be open with delicious pre boat ride bites, drinks and coffee!
I can’t say enough about how kind they were when we showed up for our scheduled time. Sam greeted us, offered umbrellas if we wanted to shade from the heat, and began teaching us how we were going to DRIVE LOLA ourselves!
We were reasonably nervous considering that Lola is a true gem, but with top speeds of a cruising 4 mph and GREAT instructions, there’s no need to worry.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS INSTAGRAMMABLE EXPERIENCE:
🌟 Must be 21 years old. No boater license required.
🌟 Fill out a waiver beforehand simply covering them of liability.
🌟 Passengers under 13 years of age MUST wear a lifejacket throughout the entire ride.
🌟 Must be ready to ENJOY the ride!
WHAT TO EXPECT/WHERE TO GO:
👏🏻 Boats are sanitized between every customer and hand sanitizer at the counter upon arrival.
👏🏻 Worried it is going to rain? You will receive a refund for inclement weather, determined by Retro Boats ATX.
👏🏻 Check in behind the Waller Creek Boathouse and you will need to park on the street. We found a covered parking lot that was reasonably priced and close. Just be sure to give yourself time to find parking!

What I love MOST about Retro Boat Rentals ATX is that it is a wonderful experience for ANYONE, even your pups! 🐶
That’s right, you can bring your dog. I will be headed back this Summer to do this.
You could take all your best gals like I did, or bring your grandparents for a nostalgic cruise or go all out and propose during the ride!
Paddle boards, and kayaking were SO last year! 😉
I am joking, but really, we were definitely the coolest people on the lake that night, and you can be too.
